FAQ

How do I submit my hours for payroll?

Go to your school secretary to get a payroll form for hourly employees.  Complete it for the two week period of the payroll.  Sign it and return to her.  She submits all payroll hours to the Payroll Secretary at our Central Office.

How do I use a personal day?

You must submit your request to your building principal on a “Leave of Absence” form, preferably prior to your need for the day.  A personal day used on the day immediately preceding or after a holiday will result in no pay for the holiday.

I have received a summons for Jury Duty. What do I do?

Obtain a leave of absence form ahead of time, fill out all pertinent information and check off the “jury duty” box.  Specify the date of your scheduled summons and sign the form.   Submit the form to your principal’s secretary for the principal’s signature.   If you are called in, keep your confirmation of service form for submission it to principal’s secretary.  Keep a copy for your own records.  You will be paid your regular rate of pay and your regular number of hours for the time served.  The school district is reimbursed $50 per day by the state once you submit your confirmation of service form.  If you are not called in, you are expected to show up for your regular work day.

I might like to apply for a different job in the district: how do I do that?

The current openings are posted on the district’s website under the District tab on the top left, Human Resources,  then Employment Opportunities.  If you see something you’d like to apply for, write a letter to the Human Resources Department.

They will forward your letter to the building principal for review.  If the principal is interested in your letter/resume s/he will contact you for an interview.  You are welcome to apply for any position you think you’re qualified for.

What is the process for applying to the Sick Leave Bank?

Write a letter to the Superintendent requesting whatever time you need.  The Human Resources Department contacts the Sick Leave Board for the DYRSAA.  They, in turn, schedule a date to meet with you to determine if your request can be accommodated.

When do I get a pay increase?

Our contract stipulates that we receive an increase in our hourly rate, effective every July 1st.  Refer to your contract to read how this process works.

Who do I call if I’m sick or unable to come to work?

Contact your school attendance line as soon as possible so they can let staff in the classrooms know you will not be in school.  You MUST complete a Leave of Absence Form for the day/s you are absent.  Your school office staff can provide that for you as well.
